The Hot Corner Daily Fix: July 26th, 2010

The big news from yesterday in Major League Baseball and that is the trade between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Angels.  The Diamondbacks, who are in last place in the NL West, traded starting pitcher Dan Haren to the Angels for Joe Saunders, Rafael Rodriguez and Patrick Corbin.  In my opinion this was a pretty even trade.  Haren has struggled a bit this year, however, that doesn’t mean he can’t bounce back in L.A.  Saunders is another pitcher that has struggled a bit this year however, like Haren, Saunders has shown good numbers in the past therefore could be a good piece to the puzzle moving forwards for a rebuilding Arizona team.  I think it will take about a month to see who is the winner of this deal but for now, I’m going to have to go with the Angels as winners in the deal as they pick up a much needed ace going forward in the second half.

Don’t forget that a few wins here and there could help gain them some ground in the A.L. West and Wild Card as they sit 7.0 GB of Texas in the division and 9.0 GB in the Wild Card.
