Rams drop 1-0 decision at Nipissing

NORTH BAY, Ont. – The goalless drought is at 120 minutes, after the Ryerson Rams were shut out on Saturdayafternoon by the Nipissing Lakers, 1-0.

The first period saw the Rams fire 11 shots on net, but couldn’t get any past Nipissing starter Jacqueline Rochefort. Rochefort stopped all 23 shots to record her first OUA shutout.

After a second period holding penalty on Emily Popelar (Toronto), Nipissing took advantage. Brooklyn Irwin scored her second goal of the year, and the only goal of the contest.

Emma Crawley (Herring Cove, N.S.) made her third straight start in net for Ryerson, making 13 saves in the loss.

Ryerson was 0-2 on the powerplay while Nipissing was 1-2 on their opportunities.

NOTES

– Despite the loss today, Crawley’s save percentage has her ranked sixth in the CIS at .951.

– With the loss, Ryerson slides into a tie for 11th in the OUA.

– Their next OUA regular season action is Sunday afternoon when they continue their road trip against the Laurentian Voyageurs. Puck drop is set for 2:45 p.m.
